1) Malaysia to Tibet via Chengdu/Chongqing:
First take a nonstop flight from Kuala Lumpur to Chengdu or Chongqing, which takes about 4 hours and 40 minutes.
Then from Chengdu or Chongqing, you can take a quick flight to Lhasa. With dozens of daily flights from both cities, the journey to Lhasa takes about 2.5 hours, offering a convenient choice.
Alternatively, you can take the train to Tibet from Chengdu or Chongqing. Lasting 34 to 35 hours, the train journey is long but offers breathtaking landscape along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
2) Malaysia to Tibet via Kunming, Guangzhou or Kathmandu
You can also transfer via Guangzhou, Kunming, or Kathmandu, all of which offer direct flights from Malaysia. From Guangzhou, both trains and flights are available to Tibet, while from Kunming, flying is the best option.
From Kathmandu, you can either take an international flight to Lhasa or embark on the classic overland journey through the Gyirong border.
